Class Announcements Keeping Busy On The Snow DaysHello, Boys and Girls and Families,
How are you enjoying the snow? I'm loving it, but we are losing a lot of instruction time, so I'm sending along some ideas to keep up your skills and get through some of these LONG days. Before I forget, the Valentine Celebration will be next Friday, February 16th. I sent home a list of names last Thursday. Activities you can do at home- READ EVERYDAY!! After you read you can... *Write down all the story elements-characters, setting, problem, solution, main idea and details, beginning, middle, end *Make a story bag and retell the story to someone *Make a mobile-draw pictures of the characters and write the beginning, middle and end of the story on separate pieces of paper, hang them from string and tie them to a hanger. *Connect to the Text-Write a Small Moment story about something that the story reminded you of. *Read the story to some family members and make up some questions about the story to ask your family members...see if they were listening! *Write about your best day of the Blizzard 2010 so far. *Keep a journal and write in it everyday about what you are doing *Write me or a friend a letter about anything you want *Send me an e-mail, I will e-mail you back. My email address is masonjm@pwcs.edu *Write down as many WOW words as you can remember. Choose 10 to put in ABC order, write sentences with, and underline the naming and telling part in each sentence. Math-If you have a deck of cards or some dice... *Play Make 10, Combinations of 10, Who Has More, or Pyramid with the cards. With the dice you can play Speed, Fly or make up a new game with the dice or the cards to share with the class whenever we return to school. *Practice adding 2 digit numbers using 10 sticks and ones representations (sticks and dots). Try adding 3 digit numbers using a square for hundreds. *Make addition and subtraction flash cards and practice answering them quickly *Write some addition and subtraction story problems for the class to answer Social Studies-Find out some information about the Famous Americans we are learning about. Helen Keller, George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Martin Luther King Jr, Jackie Robinson, and Susan B. Anthony I will give extra credit for any work turned in, plus a Tiger Eye for each activity you tried on your own. Have Fun! I miss you guys! Love, Mrs. Mason The Move Is PostponedNow that we know we won't be back to school until 2010, obviously we won't be moving until then. So, on Monday, January 4th, we will report to the old Triangle (the trailer will still be there) and do some "Goodbye Old Triangle" activities, then move on over to the new building after lunch. I would like to thank all the parents that contributed to the Winter Celebration, the kids had a great time! Also, thanks for all my gifts, it was so nice of you to think of me. Have a safe and wonderful holiday! Enjoy the snow! We Are Moving!! Only a week and a half until we move in to the new school! The kids and I can't wait to get out of the trailer and inside the building. Just think...no more running through the rain and cold, so much more space, no more PE in the hallways, and we will even have our very own hooks and cubbies for our coats and belongings! We are all SOOO excited...
Our class will walk over to the new building with all our things on Tuesday, December 22nd after lunch. We won't be going back to the trailer after that, so dismissal will be from the new building. This week, we will be doing some holiday activities and have Elf Factory and a Winter Break celebration on Friday, December 18th. There will also be a Say Good Bye To Triangle Dance sponsored by the PTO that night from 6-8pm. I will send a note home on Monday afternoon with more details about the celebration. ![]() Class Schedule9:00-10:30-Math
